Cinthia was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She earned a MBA from University of Phoenix in Human Resources and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from Universidad Interamericana de Puerto Rico. She is married, has two sons, and enjoys spending time with her family and visiting her beautiful Puerto Rico. Her career with SSA began as a Service Representative in Caldwell, ID in 2009. Her hard work earned her a promotion as a Claim Representative and transfer to Boise, ID.
She became a Union member on her first day at the Agency. Cinthia has always been interested in helping other employees and fighting for what is right. She is the go to person when other employees have questions about the contract and she has helped other employees join the Union as well. When the Internship program for the Local opened solicitations for 2015, she did not hesitate to apply; it offered exactly what she wanted - a place to learn and understand the behind the scenes of how our Local works and to learn Union procedures. Since then she began serving as the primary representative of her local office in Boise, ID and other locations, and her passion for helping others resulted in her recent election to the 3rd VP position for the Local. She strives to create a better environment between management and employees.

Laura began her SSA career in 1994 in Wisconsin, before moving to Oregon in 1998. She volunteered to become a local representative in the Portland NE office in 2003, and became a Local Officer (as Secretary) in 2004. She now works in the Portland Metro office, mentors newer local reps, and serves as an off-site local representative for several other SSA offices in her area (when there isn't anyone on-site ready to give it a try themselves, which we always encourage!). She has always been an enthusiastic advocate for employees, and has gradually added more concrete labor education and experience - from training in basic representative and Union women's issues, to relocation bargaining and arbitration preparation.
As Secretary, she manages the Local's communications with our bargaining unit, our members and local representatives, she writes and edits Executive Board and Local Business meeting minutes, helps to manage our website and Facebook pages, archives records and handles many other small details that keep the Local running smoothly.
